1. Introduction
Welcome to Japan’s Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) Program – an official initiative of the Government of Japan designed to provide skilled professionals from around the world with legal employment opportunities in Japan. This program enables individuals to build a rewarding career while contributing to Japan’s industries and cultural exchange.
2. About OES International Academy
Established in 1991 in Ginza, Tokyo, OES International Academy has trained and placed over 6,000 graduates across major airlines, hotels, welfare institutions, and global corporations. OES is officially supporting Japan’s national workforce development programs, including the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) system and Technical Intern to SSW conversion projects, in cooperation with both public and private sectors.
3. Program Outline
Visa Type: Specified Skilled Worker (Type 1 & Type 2)
Duration: 1–5 years (renewable)
Industries: Caregiving, Food Service, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Hotel, Construction, and more
Benefits: Legal employment, proper salary, housing support, and Japanese language training
Career Pathway: Training → SSW Type 1 → SSW Type 2 → Possible Permanent Residency

5. Government Vision for the Future (2025–2027)
Japan plans to implement a new 'Training & Employment System' around 2027 to replace the existing Technical Intern Training Program. The new system will offer structured language and skill development and a smoother transition into the SSW category. The government also plans to expand eligible industries, enhance collaboration with local governments, and increase the number of skilled foreign workers to over 800,000by2027.
